If you are considering building a transracial family, ask yourself these questions (as prepared by Children's Home Society and Family Services):

1. In order to learn more about my child's race and culture, I have:
(list books, videos, travel, seminars, classes, web sites, community resources you have used to increase your understanding of your child's heritage)

2. In order to incorporate my child's race and culture into my home, I will:
(list ethnic foods, artwork, picture books, magazines, music, holidays you plan to incorporate)

3. Role models for my child will include:
(list those who will help your child maintain a strong sense of cultural identity)

4. I will expose my child to the following cultural events:
(ie: Korea Day, La Semana, Culture Camps, Festival of Nations, China Reunion)

5. I will use the following words to talk to my child about racial differences:
