If you suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), obesity and weight gain are common side effects. It can be hard to stabilize your blood sugar and maintain a healthy body weight, because of insulin resistance. But there are natural things you can do in order to control the side effects of PCOS and to lose weight -- both of which will improve your odds when trying to conceive.
Dietary habits and exercise are two very important issues to be monitored.
Since your body doesn't convert insulin properly, it will store fats. Losing weight will not be easy. If you make certain dietary changes -- limit sugar and fats; avoid high calorie, dense foods; eat fresh fruits, vegetables and lean proteins -- you can keep your body stable and help maintain a healthy blood sugar level.
You also need to create a daily exercise program. A good workout should include cardiovascular-intensive exercises, light weight lifting, toning, and activities like walking, swimming, skating, and bicycling. The sedentary lifestyle is one of the worst things for a woman with PCOS.
Other important steps you can take include adding a daily multivitamin supplement, limiting caffeine and alcohol, quitting smoking, and drinking more water. All of these things can combine to enhance fertility and make it much easier to conceive, even with PCOS.
PCOS is one of the most common disorders behind female infertility. But the good news is that it can be treated. By finding a fertility specialist and receiving treatment for PCOS, you will increase your chances of being able to conceive.
