If you don't like the idea of going to IUI alone
Q: I go for my first IUI next month and am not crazy about the fact that I'll also be doing that alone. Anyone have any suggestions?p/i]
Choice Moms responded to this question from a woman with some nice responses, including assurance that going by yourself isn't that bad. One had her iPod tunes as company. For her first IUI the soothing songs she played "didn't work." For her second, she listened to opera -- "sweeping, melodramatic perhaps, but it seemed to suit the occasion exhorting those brave little swimmers to get to my waiting eggs.
One of our favorite responses from the Choice Moms discussion board was this: "I brought Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" to my first IUI. I figured the little spermies might need some help getting "in the mood" after being frozen so long. I, the doc, and the friend who accompanied me were all laughing. It helped me make light of a procedure I otherwise really wasn't excited about. I didn't get pregnant that cycle, however. I did have success later when I did an at-home ICI while watching Bridges of Madison County. Go figure."
